ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
Columbia High School is a closed campus. Students must check out through the attendance office unless they leave during lunch time.
LATE ARRIVALS
Students must come to attendance and sign into school on the tardy board. A tardy pass (either excused or unexcused) is issued to allow them passage thru the hall and/or the commons area, to get to class.
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
When leaving school early, a written consent from a parent and/or guardian is required prior to leaving campus. The note must have a contact number where the person who wrote the note can be reached before the student is allowed to leave. A temporary pass will be given to leave classroom and return to the attendance office for early dismissal. If no contact can be made, (of the person who wrote the note) student will not be allowed to leave.
If the student is 18 years old, they will still need an administrator’s approval for early dismissal. If a student becomes ill during school hours, they must report to the school nurse. The nurse will make the contact to the parent and/or guardian and then call attendance to inform us that it is alright for the named individual to come pick up the ill student. When the parent and/or guardian arrives on campus they must FIRST go to the front office and get a school pass – a picture I.D. required to get a school pass.
